JiaDiDi (呷甜甜)

A six course Taiwanese inspired vegan dessert menu, in the color order of the pride flag.

Created after November 2018 when the voters rejected same-sex marriage in Taiwan, to bring visibility to the queer community through sweets. The ingredients and the concepts of the dishes were inspired by Taiwan’s traditional cuisine and spirit. To make the experience as inclusive as possible, it’s made vegan with all-natural ingredients.

On May 17th 2019, Taiwan made history to become the first country in Asia to welcome legislation on marriage equality. But the result of the previous vote shows that there is still a lot of misunderstanding and discrimination in our society. I want this menu to gently tell the world that the LGBTQ+ community exists in Taiwan, and though it may be hidden, its true colors are beautiful.
